Submit a Complaint About your Passport/FBR Application
What does this portal do?
This web portal allows a person who has a passport (online or paper) application, an Irish passport, Foreign Birth Registration application, or a Foreign Birth Registration Certificate to submit a complaint to the Passport Service.
Please note that if a resolution can be actioned in relation to your complaint, we will aim to do this within 5 working days. In these cases, the Passport Service may need to contact the applicant if more supporting documentation is required. In the event that frontline resolution is not possible, the turnaround time for responses to your complaint submission is 30 working days and will be sent to the email address provided by the applicant on the complaint form. Applicants are permitted to submit one complaint per passport application number/FBR application number/FBR certificate number /passport number to the Passport Service in order to allow sufficient time to review and respond to your complaint. Multiple complaint submissions will not be accepted.
If your application is live and you require an update on its status, please use our existing phone lines and web chat facilities during the hours of 9am and 4.30pm, Monday – Friday. Details are available here.
You may also be aware that an in-person Urgent Appointment Service is available for renewal applications only. Further details and the booking portal are available here: Urgent Appointment Service - Department of Foreign Affairs (dfa.ie).
